Italian Estates: Ardor Venere Pot (Extra) (Dorelio Rovera)

Product Number: 004-006-24117

Ardor makes quite a percentage of its pipes in particularly large sizes, so it's fun to see a moderately small Pot from the Italian workshop. This piece was carved by Dorelio Rovera, Damiano's father, and is forward canted for just a touch of visual forward momentum, and is decorated at the end of the stem with an expansion band of briar around a brass ring. The grain is exceptional on the flanks and near side, washing out toward loose birdseye on the far side and not quite finding it. A practical piece, that sits on its own, with thick chamber walls and a broad tobacco chamber, this pipe provides practicality and beauty.
