Italian Estates: Castello Sea Rock Briar Chimney (SC) (74F) (1950s-1960s)
Product Number: 004-006-25401
There are some pipes that skirt the line between what's a Stack, and what might be considered simply a tallish Billiard. This is not one of them; it is, quite clearly, a pipe with a lot of extra height — nearly three inches of it, to be exact. Castello's paired that towering bowl to quite an abbreviated shank here as well, adding an acrylic military mount and push style tenon to both break up the silhouette visually and make this briar more practical for storage and cleaning. This particular piece is an older Castello, having been made sometime between the 1950s and '60s, found here finished in the workshop's signature Sea Rock Briar rustication.- Andrew Wike
