Italian Estates: Castello Collection Bent Billiard (K) (1970s-1982)
Product Number: 004-006-25975
Castello's shape chart has typically served as a guidebook more than anything strict and rigid, as evidenced by the number of bent Billiard variations the Italian workshop has produced over the years. This vintage Castello is perhaps the most striking and unique iteration I've come across, corresponding to Castello's "215" design on their shape chart, and is considered one of their "fancy" shapes. In essence, that term indicates the presence of flared shanks or ferrules, and often waving, rolling rims and shank faces. This rendition features an undulating rim, its orientation mimicked at the flaring shank face before meeting the softly downturned stem with a rhinestone along its side. This particular one is an older Castello and is a shape we don't see all that often from the Italian workshop, and it would certainly enhance any collection it graces.- Jeffery Sitts
