A highly stylized Volcano from Caminetto, this smooth piece offers cross-grain orientation in a dark stain. The transition emerges from the bowl about a third of the way up, accentuating the extended, ridgelined heel beneath. The shank flares conspicuously to its undulating termination and the stem is dramatically slender in contrast, tapering lithely away from the muscular form of the stummel. For those who love creative Italian interpretations of traditional shapes, and especially those who enjoy seeing the different forms possible in the Volcano shape, this is a composition deserving of consideration.
