The Perla Nera series, or "Black Pearl," was a dream of Castello founder Carlo Scotti's long before it became realized. Castello does not use lacquer for its dress pipes, believing that briars are meant to breathe, and therefore they rely on stain for the difficult black finish. Many experiments were tried, but none of the results were up to Scotti's standards, until they hit the one adorning this bent Billiard.
