Italian Estates: Radice Rind Hawkbill (2019) Tobacco Pipe

Few other names in pipedom are as closely associated with the Hawkbill shape than the Radices. Luigi worked at Castello when this distinctive shape emerged and many credit him for conceptualizing it. Certainly, the Radices have made quite a few of them over the years, with this 2019 Nosewarmer version being a fine example. The Ball-like bowl houses plenty of chamber depth within thick walls, while the abbreviated shank-and-stem arrangement trail upwards out back. Dressed in the earthy rustication of the Rind finish with a smooth rim for contrast, this craggy piece offers much in the way of textural and visual appeal.
