This Canadian from Castello is a more modest rendition than traditionally seen from the Italian workshop, boasting well-balanced proportions and a relatively petite bowl. While the pert, upright bowl sits at the front of the piece, the oval shank extends from the transition in a long stretch before it meets the abbreviated tapered stem. The sleek, flattened lines of the shank-and-stem combination nicely accentuate the stoic stature of the bowl, while adding a streamlined elegance in profile. Finished in a warm, traditional stain that deepens the briar's grain patterns, this a handsome piece with a sophisticated ease.
