Founded in the 1970s, Il Ceppo is now championed by Franco Rossi and his sister Nadia, who continue the Pesaro approach to pipe making, as seen in this warm-toned Billiard. The tall, deep-chambered and stout bowl is supported by a more slender stretch of rectangular shank and tapered stem, the contrasting proportions reflecting the neoclassic style of Italian pipe making. This piece is dressed in a rustic, earthy sandblast, unveiling tight stacks of slightly wavering growth rings, while the rim has been smoothly stained a complementing hue, and is dotted with pinpricks of birdseye.
