A sleek, proud Rhodesian, this rendition from Claudio Cavicchi shows the Italian carver's skill in creating playful shapes and incorporating alternative materials. The bowl is broad, yet classic in profile, with twin beadlines about the waist. Tapering to a rounded heel, it then softly transitions to a round shank that lifts upward, flaring as it reaches toward the stem. The shank end bears a thin black ring and an accent of spalted boxwood for contrast, and is paired to a downturned saddle stem of black acrylic. Dressed in Cavicchi's Smooth Brown finish, the stummel displays a forest of clustered birdseye on the underside and handsome vertical grain striations on the flanks. Unsmoked.
