Italian Estates: Ser Jacopo Smooth Bent Egg with Silver (L1) (Maxima) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-35222

A sinuously bent egg is offered here from Italian workshop Ser Jacopo, poising a sweeping, gestural bowl at the end of its steeply curved shank-and-stem combination. Said bowl is both tall and broad, offering a palm-filling, comfortable presence in hand that earns it its single "Maxima" stamping quite easily. The low-set waistline and easy taper to the rim combine well with the form's Scoop-like fore to make for an outline which is quite gestural and full of both forward and upward momentum. In comparison, the shank is quite trim, flicking up from the transition to meet the smartly curved stem at a junction marked by a band of silver. Dressed in a deep walnut stain and glossy top coat, this piece displays some beautiful grain, with flame grain flowing through the flanks of the shank and bowl, while the heel and rim are peppered by pinpricks of birdseye.
