A plump, charming design, this bent Apple from Castello pairs the affably chubby bowl to a far more lean shank-and-stem arrangement, the proportions hewing to the Italian neoclassic school of design. Intriguingly, this piece wears dual finishes: The majority of the stummel is dressed in a rich, honey stain that highlights a handsome mix of birdseye and flame grain around the bowl. The lower bowl, however, wears a low-profile, dark sandblast for a bit of whimsical flourish and textural stimulation.
