A beautifully subdued crimson stain unifies the stummel for this tall, stacked Billiard from Max Rimensi of Il Duca pipes. The heel is prominently rounded with a bit of forward visual mass, while the transition is tight and introduces a cylindrical shank that rises at an angle to meet the horn accent separating the saddle stem from the stummel. Strawberry wood is lighter than briar, so this piece is surprising in hand, offering little actual weight to complement its size. The bowl is very softly curved in stretched Billiard style, tapering toward the rim, and that bowl provides ample real estate for easy placement in hand. The profile reveals a classic check-mark shape, with the bowl maintaining visual precedence thanks to its tall and wide aspect, while the slender shank-and-stem combination extends into the distance for a composition of creative and impressive stature. Unsmoked.
