This bent Billiard from Castello features a tall, affable bowl with a rounded heel, deep chamber, and a low-slung, tight-knit transition. The shank tapers gradually from the base of the bowl before giving way to a tapered stem of jet-black acrylic, making a smart downturn for a relaxed smoking posture. The high reaching, ovoid shank-and-stem arrangement offers a willowy, sinuous note to the pipe's profile that offsets some of the bowl's firm stature and plump proportions. The stummel wears the vibrant, honey-blonde finish of the workshop's eponymous "Castello" series, handsomely accentuating the rich constellations of birdseye across the flanks of the bowl and cross grain across the rim and top of the shank. It's a charming, fetching bit of Italian craftsmanship that offers plenty of elegant, refined shaping and remains unsmoked.
