Ser Jacopo's Historica line revives beloved designs from the Italian workshop's nearly 40 years of rich pipe-making history, and this 2018 rendition brings the Calabash to life with a modern aesthetic. The swooping profile pays homage to the vintage Gourd Calabash design, but the inflated rim of the iconic shape is narrowed here. Twin beadlines pinch the waist, and enjoy the same stimulating sandblast as the rest of the stummel, while natural plateau lends an organic nuance to the rim. The jet-black acrylic stem balances the physical and visual weight of the pipe, and a silver band at the shank end adds elegant contrast the overall form.
