Italian Estates: Castello 'Castello' Bent Dublin (G) (1988) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-35975
Dated to 1988, this vintage bent Dublin from Castello is a striking bit of Italian craftsmanship that evokes the build and character of the classic Calabash, though without that design's domed rim. The bowl here boasts a dramatic flare from heel to rim, its sharp expansion immediately drawing the eye. The shank-and-stem arrangement, in contrast, is a lithe taper that ebbs from the low-set transition and rises steeply toward the aft side of the composition. Dressed in the Italian workshop's eponymous finish, the stummel displays some tantalizing birdseye and cross grain about the bowl.--Davin Hylton
