Italian Estates: Ardor Giove Bent Apple with Silver (DR) (2007) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-35981

At first glance, this bent Apple from Italian workshop Ardor is a more reserved, classic interpretation of the shape from the Pesaro pipe makers, and that would be correct for the most part, save for a few things. First, this is a deceptively large pipe, its rather balanced proportions belying its over six inches of length and two inches of height, with the breadth of the bowl actually exceeding its height. Second, the forward-urging bowl has been carved not only with a good deal of robust roundness, but a pair of extremely subtle channels through the fore which add an understated texture to the briar, keeping the hand engaged. Dressed in a warm chestnut stain, there's a wealth of grain on display through the stummel, while rich contrast it offered by a way of a broad silver band at the junction to a smartly curved saddle stem.
