Italian Estates: Castello Collection Bent Dublin (KKKK) (2009) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-36022
A sleek iteration of the bent Dublin shape, this piece from Castello possesses a tall, flaring bowl that cants dramatically forward and is pinched at the sides to produce an oval similar to the Opera shape. The low-set transition and elongated shank-and-stem arrangement keep most of the visual weight anchored firmly at the bowl, though the pair's own ovoid shape maintains a degree of muscularity when viewed from above. The shank tapers gradually along its length as it arcs gently back into the stem. The mouthpiece of jet-black acrylic makes a gentle downturn that offsets the bowl forward-ebbing momentum, offering a sense of dynamism at either end of the pipe. The stummel wears a glossy smooth finish and a bright auburn stain that showcases some handsome flame grain on all sides of the bowl.
