While the "dripping wax" finish is something distinctive to Italian pipe making, within that context, techniques and approaches vary widely. Whereas the Radices favor a very abstract, impressionistic aesthetic for example, Ser Jacopo carves theirs in a smooth, more clearly detailed style. That is, of course, what we're looking at here, wrapped around the statuesque bowl of this robustly proportioned, classically inclined straight Billiard.
