Belgian painter René Magritte is further immortalized by this Hawkbill from Ser Jacopo. Inspired by a lesser drawing from the famous artist, this piece is in a Pot shape, with the bowl cylindrical, the rim flat, and the curvature of the shank and stem primarily provided by their sweeping underside, which curves dramatically from the bowl with a striking, Hawkbill-like poise. A deep, warm, smooth finish dresses the stummel here, showcasing a lovely array of dense flame grain on the left flank of the bowl, while birdseye swirls across the right side and the rim. A band of silver at the junction offers some handsome contrast with the darker hues of this pipe, while its intricate etchings lend the aft end further intrigue. Unsmoked.
