Italian Estates: Ser Jacopo Picta Magritte Rusticated Bent Egg with Silver (R1) (13) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-37064

p>The late Giancarlo Guidi was an avid art collector and enthusiast. So much of an enthusiast, in fact, that he created the Picta line — a series inspired by pipes featured in the works of major artists like Vincent van Gogh, Joan Miró, and René Magritte. For inspiration for these designs, Giancarlo looked to his various monographs, which often feature images of the unfinished or otherwise more obscure work of one artist or another, as well as their famous pieces. The inspiration for this rather whimsical bent Egg design was sourced from a Magritte painting titled The Triumphant March. Much like other pieces in the Picta series, some creative liberties were taken in this interpretation, with the plump bowl tapering from its chubby, low-set waistline up toward the concave rim. A filigree sterling silver band graces the shank end, providing elegant contrast the rugged briar.
