A distinguished Acorn shape is presented in this sleek rendition from third-generation carver Federico Becker. The bowl is organically bulbous, high-waisted, and tapering, with the Italian artisan's signature jutting heel lending a rather jaunty disposition. The defined, low-set transition accentuates the bowl's height, while a slender, gradually tapering shank-and-stem arrangement stretches out back. The lean arrow-straight shaping and cumberland mouthpiece are also recognizable as Becker's work. The sandblasted, unstained stummel, rendered from high-quality briar, reveals striking, tightly knit stacks of ring grain and has begun to take on a bespoke patina, one which should darken as it is used further.
