As one might expect from its "Gigante" designation, this Freehand from L'Anatra is massive, boasting seven inches of length and a bowl over two inches tall. The hearty bowl is reminiscent of the Rhodesian shape, though with a more oval appearance when viewed from above, displaying a wrapping headline, a flared heel, and a tapered rim. In typical Italian neoclassical fashion, the bowl holds most of the visual weight within the compositions, overshadowing the lean shank-and-stem arrangement that brings up the rear. A warm, honey-hued smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights a handsome mixture of birdseye and flame grain around the bowl.
