This Castello take on the straight Bulldog balances a low-slung, poised, and quite substantial bowl with a long, sharp, and sturdy diamond shank topped with a robust tapered bit. The heel here is pronounced and muscular, exemplifying the overall muscularity of the shape as a whole and thrusting the bowl into prominence, magnifying the rather classic shaping on display here. The design would be handsome enough just at that, but it's further commended by a dark chestnut stain as part of the Trademark line, furthering this example's appeal, with dense swathes of birdseye and flame grain on either flank of the bowl.
