Savinelli's Autograph pipes represent some of the most creative designs within the Italian firm's portfolio, with each piece in the series handcrafted by one of the marque's most experienced artisans. This Freehand is a handsome showcase of what the Autograph line has to offer, its form and build at once playful and distinctly Italian. Almost Skater-like in its construction, the bowl here stands atop a pointed, forward-ebbing heel, and displays a swift flare toward its rounded, plateau-crusted rim. Though fairly large and muscular, the bowl here, unlike many Italian designs, is balanced out by the shank-and-stem arrangement's pronounced curvature, which encourages a comfortable smoking posture while keeping the shape rather gestural in silhouette. Dressed in an auburn smooth finish, the stummel displays tight strands of flame grain that rise across the flanks of the bowl.
