Italian Estates: Castello 'Castello' Bent Egg (KKKK) (2015) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-37887
This is one of the largest bent Eggs I've seen from Castello, though somehow the Italian marque has managed to imbue it with the same kind of gracile stature as their smaller renderings. Corresponding to their older number "93" shape, this pipe features a steeply bent stem military mounted to a dome of acrylic at the shank end, allowing for easy disassembly even when hot. The shank flares rapidly to a muscular transition, while the underside plunges into the heel, lifting swiftly and bowing outward to give the bowl a hearty bulbousness that feels excellent in the hand, the transition allowing for easy thumb draping. At just a touch over 2 ounces in weight, this piece will make for an excellent jaw hanger, and the stummel's deep chestnut stain reveals swirling vortices of birdseye across much of the bowl, ensuring that it will look good while clenched.
