Led by Marco Biagini, Moretti produces everything from shape-chart standards to wild Freehands, and the workshop is best known for their especially giant renditions. This Pickaxe by Moretti features thick, insulating walls that taper from the broad rim to the shape's requisite sharp heel, creating the arcing profile of the pipe's namesake. Out back, a small shank emerges from a mid-set transition. Said shank demurely bends upward and connects to a tapered stem that takes a gentle turn back to parallel. The jet-black hues of the acrylic stem pair fittingly with the warm chestnut stain on the stummel, which highlights wavy wisps of flame grain on the towering Pickaxe bowl.
