With a wide, oval shank nearly the same width as the heel, this compactly-sized Diplomat from Max Rimensi of Il Duca features the stoutness of an Author but with an oval shank, according to classic Diplomat shaping standards. Max has demonstrated his facility with slender, sinuous shapes as well as sturdily muscular renditions throughout his portfolio, and this piece falls in between, revealing a hearty substance of proportions yet remaining elegantly flowing in line and profile. The wide shank doesn't lack in stout appeal, and it joins the bowl in such a way so as to enhance the bowl's rounded nature. Meanwhile, the undercurve is consistent and attractive, and the sandblasted finish is elevated by Max's contrast stain and extraordinary shaping acumen.
