Italian Estates: Becker Rusticated Opera (1979-1983) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-39245
The Becker legacy in pipe-making spans three generations. Fritz Becker initially started the family workshop as a complete autodidact, passing on his skills to his son Paolo and his grandson Federico. The family has German heritage, are inspired by Danish shapes, and produce pipes in Italy, manifesting a signature style that is uniquely Becker.
This Opera by Becker possesses a superbly thin form. The pert bowl resembles an iconic Billiard bowl in profile, but, from the fore, it is seriously slim, providing for a lightweight in-hand feel. Out back, the major axis of the ovoid shank is oriented vertically, keeping the profile proportional while maintaining the composition's feathery weight. A trim tapered stem brings up the rear, with two hardwood bands serving as elegant accents. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in a walnut-hued rustication, giving this pipe a rugged appeal.
