Italian Estates: Ser Jacopo Rusticated Calabash (R1) (A) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-39920

Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Though Guidi passed away in 2012, his legacy lives on not only in the pipes he crafted, or the company he founded, but in the language of design that he helped to pioneer. This Calabash is a fine example of that bold, dynamic style, complete with a tall, stout bowl featuring an overhanging, domed rim that's marked by a distinctive, wrapping ridgeline. Out back, a gracefully arcing shank and tapering stem stretch out from a transition that affords plenty of room to comfortably drape a digit. This piece is dressed in one of the workshop's earthy, texturally pleasing rustications, with the rim and nomenclature panels left smoothly stained a light, complementing color that does well to complete this distinctive piece.
