Italian Estates: Ser Jacopo Cymatium Smooth Bent Apple with Silver (L1) (B) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-39844

Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Though Guidi passed away in 2012, his legacy lives on not only in the pipes he crafted, or the company he founded, but in the language of design that he helped to pioneer. While Ser Jacopo's signature Delecta mounts and stellar silverwork can frequently be admired, the Pesaro workshop's Cymatium mounts are significantly rarer. As with the Delecta, the Cymatium is a style of accent, in this case referring to the shaping of the precious metal and how it's modeled after Ionic columns. Paired to this bent Apple, the stylish mount draws the eye toward the aft side, and Ser Jacopo have accounted for that quite well: To offset some of this area's hold on the eye, the bowl is robust and the short shank takes on a sleek taper toward the silver. Fixed to the shank is a sleekly tapering stem of jet-black acrylic, one which curves slightly to offer a comfortable smoking posture and balance the heft of the bowl. Said bowl stands atop a rounded heel and boasts a supple curvature throughout its build, making for a comfortable feel in hand while the thick walls insulate the ample chamber well. Dressed in a warm mahogany auburn stain, the stummel here showcases handsome grain throughout, while the silver Cymatium mount lends plenty of contrast.
