Italian Estates: Radice Clear 'Collect' Bent Dublin (3) (2013) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-41815

Pipes from Radice's limited line of "Collect" pipes can vary wildly in size and shape, though this bent Dublin may be one of the most striking examples of the Italian workshop's neoclassical style within this line. The shank and stem here are a dramatically extended length of deeply bent briar and acrylic which stretch the reach of this piece out to nearly seven inches. The result is a smoking posture that's quite comfortable and an overall silhouette that's reminiscent of a saxophone thanks to the trumpeting nature of the bowl and the sharp upturn of the heel. The stem here is special as it's been fitted with an extension of briar, unifying the two disparate halves of this pipe quite well. Up front, the bowl takes on a bombastic form that rises out of a pronounced heel with a striking flare, growing to over three inches tall and over two inches in breadth, its expansion terminating in a vast rim crowned with craggy plateau. The wealth of briar here is covered in a warm auburn stain that unveils stunning grain, with dense striations of flame encircling the bowl, while the heel and the briar of the stem showcase lovely pinpricks of birdseye.
