Ever since they were teenagers, brothers Elio and Guido Rinaldo have been honing their skills as pipe makers, with the two getting their start working for Mastro de Paja in 1974: the brand's bold, Pesaro-style influence still visible in their work today. In 1987, the two brothers would establish the Rinaldo brand, with each pipe being handcrafted by Elio and Guido themselves. This Tomato from Rinaldo is Prince-like in its disposition. The bowl's robust figure contours well to the hand, formed by plump walls curving from the broad heel toward the smooth, flat rim. Out back is a slender, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement, with the stem featuring a gradual taper toward the bit. Rinaldo's craggy Lithos rustication dresses the stummel in a rugged complexion, complete with a muted blue stain.
