Italian Estates: Ascorti Special Edition Christmas 1992 (3/4) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-41268

In his youth, Roberto Ascorti became well-acquainted with the craft of pipe making thanks to his father Giuseppe Ascorti. He initially helped his father while attending the Art institute, eventually wanting to work full–time in pipe making at the age of 22. However, since his father's factory had no room, Roberto founded the Ascorti marque with the support of his family. Made for Ascorti's 1992 Christmas series, this bent Apple is one of 200 that were produced by the Italian marque. The bowl here exudes a Brandy-esque character, its broad, plump base fitting snugly in the hand as the walls curve gradually from the heel and taper toward the rim. Out back, a sturdy shank lifts gracefully from the bowl and joins to a demurely bent, tapered stem, with a metal accent band adorning the junction for a stylish touch of flash. Dressing the stummel is a craggy, earthy rustication, its light, warm stain contrasted by the fumed rim.
