Italian Estates: Claudio Cavicchi Smooth Bent Egg with Olivewood (CCCC) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

One of Italy's finest pipe makers, Claudio Cavicchi has carved pipes for over 40 years and is still going strong. Cavicchi crafts a wide variety of shapes, and each one showcases spectacular grain patterns in either a smooth or sandblasted finish. This bent Egg by Claudio Cavicchi showcases ample Danish influence. The bowl is supple and canted forward, imbuing this piece with an ebbing momentum that sweeps down the shank and through the transition. Said shank is arched, meaning its underside is flattened while the upper section forms a semi-circle, giving this piece a bit of architectural crispness. The shank face is accented with a band of olivewood, which does a superb job of blending the honey hues of the briar into the jet-black acrylic of the stem. Furthermore, the blonde stain on the stummel highlights impeccable cross grain on the bowl, the superlative grain earning Cavichhi's coveted five "C" stamping.
