Italian Estates: Ser Jacopo Picta Picasso Sandblasted Cutty with Horn (S1) (C) (14) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-41420
Known for pioneering the Pesaro style of pipe making, Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982. Since then, the Italian marque has made a name for itself with its affinity for fantastical, imaginative interpretations of classic pipe conventions. Among these interpretations is the marque's Picta series, a line created by Guidi that was inspired by his affinity for the arts. The shape of this bent Dublin draws inspiration from Pablo Picasso's 1912 piece Our Future Is in the Air.
With its upright, flaring bowl, this Cutty from Ser Jacopo is imbued with a Dublin-esque character that makes for a lively interpretation of the classic shape. Fashioned with the Cutty's signature spur at the heel, the bowl here grants the piece a bit of dynamism, with its rounded fore and flattened aft suggesting a sense of forward momentum. This is further accentuated by the shank-and-stem's subtle curvature, formed by the shank's subtle lift from the transition and the stem's gentle downturn. Dressing the stummel is a crisp, inky sandblast, with the shank end adorned with a creamy horn accent for a delightful touch of contrast.
