Handcrafted by Max Rimensi, this Freehand from Il Duca showcases the Italian artisan's Danish influences, featuring a flowing sense of line and a forward-urging sense of momentum. The bowl is Acorn-like in its shaping, its squat, plump figure formed by supple walls flaring from the sweeping heel toward the broad, rounded rim. An upturned ridge protrudes from the fore of the rim, granting this piece a striking silhouette. From the transition, a lean shank curves upward and flares gently toward a silver accent at the shank face as it joins to a trim, demurely downturned tapered stem, the arrangement offering a gestural profile and comfortable smoking posture. Dressing the stummel is a warm, hazelnut stain that displays lively vertical all throughout.
