Italian Estates: Savinelli Venere Rusticated (305) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-42192
The Savinelli "305" combines a softly curved Dublin-like bowl with a triangular shank and a firm heel. The tobacco chamber is wide, as with classic Pot shapes, but is conically shaped, tapering from the broad rim to the floor of the chamber. Characterizing Savinelli's creative scope in shaping, and unifying elements from the Bulldog, Dublin, and Pot, the "305" marries crisp ridgelines with soft curves for an unbeatable combination of textures.
The inspiration for Savinelli's Venere series comes from Sandro Botticelli's 1486 painting, "The Birth of Venus." The painting, currently featured in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, is probably the most recognizable depiction of Venus ever created. The long, blonde hair enveloping a voluptuous figure, with skin as fair as sea foam, follows the ancient Greek motif of Aphrodite's origins. And from the heritage of this esteemed Florentine painter, Savinelli has put together a composition of fine quality briar shaped in their finest renditions, finished in either a honey-blonde stain, or in this case a handsome rusticated finish with a stain likened to the Tuscan colors of Florence.
