Italian Estates: Caminetto Rusticated Oom Paul (08.L.23) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-006-42641

The Caminetto workshop was founded by Luigi Radice and Guiseppe Ascorti in the late 1960s, the pair establishing the brand after a lengthy tenure with Castello. Caminetto pipes quickly became a success, their unique design language cementing them as one of Italy's most respected makers. They've become especially renowned for their craggy rustications, with many of their pipes showcasing highly textural carving across their stummels. This Oom Paul from Caminetto strikes a rather more reserved posture than other offerings from the Italian workshop. The hearty bowl displays a Brandy-like taper toward the rim, where it houses a deep chamber for long smoking sessions. The heel is strong, typical of Italian shaping, and sweeps back into the upturned shank, the underside of which is subtly paneled for a bit of extra firmness as it reaches up to meet an extremely lengthy, smartly curved saddle stem of black acrylic. The Oom Paul is a shape well-suited to hanging from the jaw, and this example is no exception, perfect for a walking pipe or smoking with a good book. The stummel is dressed in a deep, inky rustication, creating plenty of texture for the fingers as well as the eyes.
