Italian Estates: Davide Iafisco Smooth Pot (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-43082
Inspired in equal measure by the classic Anglo-French marques of old and the contemporary artisan makers of modern times, Davide Iafisco is an Italian artisan whose body of work spans many styles. Starting his pipe making journey in 2010, Iafisco counts Adam Davidson, Teddy Knudsen, Chris Asteriou, and Jeff Gracik among his influences and attended a pipe making seminar held by Gracik and Davidson in 2015.
This Pot is a light, compact, pocket-friendly pipe that's wonderfully suited to travel carry or easy clenching, coming in just a touch over four and a half inches long. The transition is wide, with plenty of room to drape a digit, and it gives way to a trim, round shank that extends to reach a trim tapered stem of black vulcanite: this low-profile pairing placing further emphasis on the presence of the bowl. Said bowl stands atop a rounded heel and boasts a muscular frame, its thick walls rising to a broad rim. These walls are squat, with nearly as much breadth as they have height, and they surround a respectable chamber well-suited to on-the-go smoking. Dressed in a warm smooth finish, the stummel offers a wealth of striking flame grain.
