Italian Estates: Castello Trademark Lovat (75) (G) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-43090
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello's commitment to handcrafting high-quality pipes helped elevate the reputation of Italian pipes to luxury status. Furthermore, Castello's approach to shaping helped cultivate the bowl-centric and whimsical Italian neoclassic aesthetic. Castello's "G" stamped pipes denote those of a larger disposition than some of the Italian workshop's other pieces, sometimes being bigger only by a fairly small margin. These stamps can stack as well, with the more Gs received, the larger the pipe. This particular Lovat is stamped a single time with the designation, and it showcases an appropriately enhanced build, especially around its bowl. Despite the stature brought to mind by its stamping, this pipe yet retains a relatively light weight, its extended shank holding aloft a stout, muscular bowl that offers a reassuring feel in hand. Said bowl holds a capacious chamber, and its walls rest atop a pronounced heel, taking on a cylindrical trajectory to the rim. Dressed in the Italian workshop's Trademark finish, this pipe wears a warm, rich stain and showcases handsome grain throughout.
