This "109" Tomato from La Strada is a squat and slim rendition of the classic shape with its stout bowl and compressed shank-and-stem arrangement. The walls stand on a gently curved heel and form a low-set waist marked by a firm ridgeline. From here, the walls make a rounded taper to the rim, offering plenty of curves to appreciate in hand. From a wide transition, the oval shank lifts subtly to meet a black vulcanite saddle stem before the mouthpiece completes the pipe's understated bend at the bit. This Tomato is dressed in a warm smooth finish along the stummel, showcasing handsome cross grain throughout.
