An experienced craftsman, Luigi Viprati has been fashioning pipes by hand since 1972, and over the years, he's developed a unique style that's whimsical and reflective of the Italian neoclassical tradition. This bent Dublin Churchwarden by Viprati is a lengthy composition with a curvaceous silhouette. Up front, a tall, full-bodied bowl stands atop a sweeping heel and grows thick walls that flare to a broad, subtly domed rim. A wide transition follows the bowl and marks the start of an upturned shank and a long, arcing mouthpiece, the latter of which promotes a comfortable smoking posture. Dressing this piece is a warm smooth finish that highlights healthy grain throughout the stummel.
