Italian Estates: Becker Sandblasted Bent Dublin (G) (Four Clubs) (2017) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-43373
The Becker brand was founded by father and son duo, Fritz and Paolo Becker, Fritz being a renowned painter, sculptor, and, of course, pipe maker who passed the craft to his son. Fritz and Paolo crafted Becker pipes together from 1979, the brand's inaugural year, until Fritz's passing in 1991. Paolo, then, mentored his son, Federico, and after Paolo's death in 2014, Federico now continues the family's pipe-making legacy, deftly maintaining the iconic Becker aesthetic while elevating his work with modern techniques and innovations.
A signature design cue of Becker pipes is a sharply pointed heel and angular style. This bent Dublin, however, forgoes that pointed aesthetic, instead featuring a more rounded heel that is curvaceous and soft-lined. All of the other aforementioned aspects are typical of Federico's personal shaping style: The shank-and-stem arrangement is trim and poised, and the bowl is canted forward, with a slight lip at the fore of the rim creating dynamic gesture in profile. It's all dressed in a crisp sandblast that highlights rippling growth rings across the stummel's flanks.
