Crafted in 2000 for Pipes and tobaccos magazine's Pipe of the Year, this Billiard from Castello boasts a tall, thick-walled bowl that stands at the fore of a sleek, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement. In typical Italian neoclassical fashion, the bowl holds most of the visual weight within the composition, its towering height and muscular frame overshadowing the lean proportions of the shank and stem. A firm heel supports the bowl as it grows thick, cylindrical walls up toward a flat, smooth rim, creating plenty of insulation for the ample chamber. The smooth Trademark finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous grain across the briar's surface, while a band of finely engraved silver adorns the junction and ties the composition together with a touch of flash.
