Savinelli's Autograph series focuses on two major factors: handcrafted pipes outside of the marque's standard shape chart, and using high-quality, select blocks of briar. The results are often stunning, with this Volcano being one of the most striking renditions I've ever come across. While most briars position plateau along the rim or shank face, this piece places it along the underside. It offers some intriguing texture in hand and, despite its bumpiness, this pipe possesses the ability to sit stably on flat surfaces, leaning slightly to the right. A firm, undulating ridgeline separates the plateau from the rest of the smooth bowl, allowing all the briar's magnificent flame grain to take center stage. It's all paired to an acrylic stem of sky blue and creamy white tones, its gentle downturn lending the composition an elegant profile.
