Each piece handcrafted by an individual artisan from start to finish, Savinelli Autographs are made from specially selected blocks of briar. It's a line that Savinelli wants to make sure excels in reputation and quality, and it gives the artisans opportunity to express their creativity and craftsmanship. Each piece is individual and represent designs that fall outside shape-chart standards, such as this tall bent Billiard with a cinched waistline. The high transition seamlessly joins the bowl with the shank, which in cross section revels a Reuleaux triangle. A Reuleaux triangle is formed by intersecting three circular disc shapes centered on the boundaries of the other two. The curvature is subtle, with the top edge of the shank rounded while the two other lines are sharp-ridged and swoop onto the bowl in a line of demarcation that leaves a plumply rounded heel beneath. A modified half-saddle stem in jet black contrasts gently with the chestnut contrast stain, itself the medium for stunning grain to be revealed. The rim is dramatically concave, and the heel is a rounded semi-sphere of remarkable birdseye.
