Italian Estates: Caminetto Event 2021 Rusticated Bent Dublin Sitter (AT) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

The Caminetto workshop was founded by Luigi Radice and Giuseppe Ascorti in the late 1960s, the pair establishing the brand after a lengthy tenure with Castello. Caminetto pipes quickly became a success, their unique design language cementing them as one of Italy's most respected makers. They've become especially renowned for their craggy rustications, with many of their pipes showcasing highly textural carving across their stummels. Caminetto's Event line is a once-yearly limited-release series that comprises a single shape taken from the Italian workshop's historical portfolio. These vintage profiles are resurrected with a touch of modernization and are presented in a variety of finishes, with this 2013 edition being a Cutty-like bent Dublin. The forward-urging bowl curls out of a wide transition and expands expressively toward the rim, with a more dramatic flare just before it reaches its widest point. This trumpet-like bowl is held aloft by a flattened spur set just behind the transition, making this pipe a stable sitter and calling to mind the Cutty's traditional form immediately. The shank tapers swiftly out of the transition to meet a broad copper band embossed with Caminetto's iconic moustache logo and the phrase "EVENT 2021" split between both flanks of the shank. This band acts as the junction to a sleekly tapering stem of black acrylic whose willowy bit focuses the visual weight on the stummel, while its subdued downturn makes for a more comfortable smoking posture. Dressed in a craggy rustication, the stummel is rich with texture throughout, with rich contrast on offer thanks to the accent band's copper tones.
