This Bulldog from Tonino Jacono is indicative of the Italian artisan's affection for stout, bold proportions, with the round, broad bowl maintaining the focal point of the piece and nestling firmly in hand. The well-defined ridgeline wraps around the bowl at the rim, while the lower half of the bowl slopes sharply downward to a slightly more supple heel than is observed in some renderings. Even the diamond shank's lines are softened a bit, while a wide, jet-black acrylic stem offers contrast. Finished in one of Jacono's highest grades, the Rook line reflects the artisan's talent for using high-quality briar and orienting it in a way that prioritizes the natural grain patterns.
