Italian Estates: Castello 'Castello' Bent Bulldog (KKKK) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-006-43546
From the mind of Italian artisan Carlo Scotti, Castello was founded in 1947 to offer handmade pipes that exude quality in both form and function. Working together with Luigi Radice and Peppino Ascorti, the three would serve as key innovators in defining Italian neoclassical pipe design. This Bulldog from Castello is a muscular rendition of the traditional shape, indicative of the Italian workshop's preference for exaggerated proportions. The bowl stands on a pointed heel, its walls flaring toward twin beadlines before tapering inward to a flat rim. Out back, the shape's trademark diamond shank lifts upward to find a saddle stem of black acrylic. The the shank wears a dark rustication, offering some organicism and tactile appeal, with the rim offering similar texture in a lighter stain. The bowl wears a chestnut smooth finish that highlights tendrils of flame grain along both flanks.
