Savinelli's Autograph line is composed of limited-production, handmade pipes crafted by the marque's most experienced artisans. Afforded more creative freedom, the craftsmen of the line are free to depart from Savinelli's normal shape chart and create unique, evocative pieces that display their own personal style. This Freehand from the Autograph line resembles a silhouette closer to the Danish school of design than Italian. With a sweeping profile from button to bowl, the momentum of this pipe is drawn to the fore where the bowl maintains most of the visual weight. The walls of said bowl rise from a lifted heel to form a convex, lenticular rim that looks into a capacious tobacco chamber. The two-inch-deep chamber coupled with a flattened section along the underside makes this pipe an ideal option for multitaskers who like to take their time smoking. Out back, ridgelines on each side of the shank create an oval profile that extends through the stem where they cinch in like an hourglass before the mouthpiece continues its taper to the bit. The black vulcanite stem pairs well with the smooth finish along the stummel where flicks of flame grain wrap the bowl's flanks and birdseye pops along the rim and underside.
